How do you get horses hair to lay flat in one groom?

Published by admin under Horses

My horses hair sticks, i mean her actual coat, not her mane, i need it to lay down today, please help!
She has her winter coat and isn’t rugged (hoping to get one very very soon).
Sorry, i meant sticks up.
I live in Australia, it is really cold right now!

Winter coat? You must be on the complete opposite side of the world, it is mid-summer here lol.

Why do you need it flat? Winter hair is supposed to stick up to trap heat to keep her warm.

Are you going to a show? If you are showing either use show sheen to keep it down or else clip her and get a winter blanket for her to wear at home.

    Edit—-

Australia? yep, I live in the U.S.

If you blanket your horse that will make the hairs lay flat.

But like Meagan said, if you flatten those hairs out you’ll be taking away her insulation. Read this article for more information: The Horse’s Natural Blanket – The Hair Coat. http://www.horsekeeping.com/horse_care/blanket_or_not.htm
